コグノス社は、お客様がご使用になる最新技術をサポートしていきます。そうした新しい技術のサポートに伴い、下記の環境のサポートは Cognos 8 Planning が最後となります
対応ソフトウェア環境は、特に断りのない限り、他社製ソフトウェアはその最初のリリースを想定しており、パッチやサービスパックまたは同等のものを必要としないことを想定しています。同様に、断りのない限り新機能を無効にするように（コンパティブル・モード）他社製ソフトウェアが設定されていないこと、及び他社製ソフトウェアのパッチやサービスパックはコグノス製品に対して上位互換であると想定しています。
Cognos TM1 64-bit製品を除き、すべての製品は、32-bit 製品です。コグノス製品は、他社製ソフトウェアの 32-bit ライブラリとのみ統合することができます。また Windows と書かれている場合は、x86 アーキテクチャ上での Windows を指します。
下記一覧表では、Cognos 8 Planning 8.3用ソフトウェア環境への対応が、「Active」、「Compatible」、「Not Supported」のいずれかに分類されています。「Active」となっている環境は、コグノス社がテストを行った環境です。「Compatible」と記載されている環境は、テストをしているかもしれませんが、その範囲が限られていることがあります。あるいは、そのサポートはコグノスパートナーや他社ベンダーによる上位互換表明に基づいている場合もあります。また、ソフトウェア環境のある特定のリリースが古くなるにつれ、テストの大半はコグノス製品の過去のリリースで行っていることになるため、時間の経過とともに「Active」から「Compatible」に移行していくケースもあります。

Planning製品の展開にあたり、Content Store用データベースのコンフォーマンスは、Planning Storeの設定により決定されます。
- Planning StoreのテーブルとC8のContent Store用に、同一のデータベースを活用される場合、そのデータベースサーバーのバージョンはPlanning Storesがサポートするバージョンである必要があります。
- C8のContent StoreとPlanning Storeが、別々のデータベース内にある場合、Content Storeのコンフォーマンスは、C8 BI 8.3 Content Storeと同一であり、Planningのアプリケーションがサポートしているデータベースのバージョン内に、Planning Storeが格納されている必要があります。
